"Wizard of Oz" fanatics hoping to own the dress worn by Judy Garland in the iconic film might need to appeal to the "Great and Powerful Oz" for financial support.

The blue and white gingham dress worn by Garland when she played Dorothy Gale in 1939 is on display at Bonhams & Butterfields here, and is set to be auctioned April 26 in London. Bonhams said the dress could fetch from $50,000 to $70,000.

It'd be cool to own the Cowardly Lion or Scarecrow's costume, if they even exist. I can't imagine them going for anything less than a $100,000.

The Wizard of Oz features evil witches, "good" witches, supernatural creatures, wizardry, and is devoid of any sign of Christianity.

In short, everything that the fundamentalist detractors of Harry Potter cluck about, the beloved Wizard of Oz has in spades.

Judy Garlands life had so many UPS and DOWNS. I saw the autobiography movie Judy's daughter wrote about her. I felt so bad for her. Judy wanted so bad to be accepted as herself and had dreams of becoming a nurse. HELLywood destroyed her! Watch the movie and you'll understand Judy better as a person and what she want through! Fame did her in! HELLywood used her and than spit her out in the streets! She was only a teenager when MGM honcho ordered Judy's mom to give her the diet pills or else! It's a sad story!

Wasn't Auntie Em a Christian woman? If not for that she was prepared to send the wicked witch off on her broom.

There were at least three sets of the ruby slippers. I have to believe that this particular dress is only one copy of several as well.

There are 7 pair of ruby slippers, I believe.
I would bet the dress gets reunited with a pair.
