The Bitter Wilderness of Jim Jeffords
Washington Dispatch.com ^ | April 13, 2005 | Vincent Fiore

Does anyone out there remember Piels beer?  Bob McAllister’s Wonderama or Quisp cereal?  How about Mutual of Omaha’s “Wild Kingdom” nature show and K-Tel records?  Surely, a few of you remember some, if not all, of these once-popular and everyday elements that were once considered by most as indisputable props of Americana. But do you remember the senator from Vermont, Jim Jeffords?

I don't want to disrespect the forum's excerpting policy, but here's a relevant sample to let you know just how low the ex-RINO has sunk:

Jeffords’s, after relaying to the [NPR] host that he feels “so bitter” over the war in Iraq, went on to say that he “Wouldn't be surprised” if President Bush started another war, “probably in Iran." Jeffords also states that the end result of the war in Iraq “is going to be some oil agreement.”

"There is nothing courageous about Senator Jim Jeffords. Leaving the Republican Party was simply a seat-change for him, and not an ideological change. Jeffords was wooed by then-Senate minority leader Tom Daschle with promises of power (which he got for a time) and a new-found adoration among his colleagues on the left and the press."

PERFECT description of Jeffords. He is a petulant self-centered ninny who went to the Dems for political, not moral, reasons. He was suddenly The Man, and ever since, it's been really embarassing to see him in front of microphones talking about HIS OWN "heroism". It's really embarassing, like listening to a guy brag about how great he is with women--they're the ones who can't survive without praise.

Nobody likes a traitor.

When Benedict Arnold moved to England after the war, nobody there would have anything to do with him, either.

Traitors are traitors.

Let's see. A self important over inflated ego sells out his side for personal gain at the most critical of times, picks the losing side in doing so, and become a pathetic non-entity.

This has almost exactly happened before. Benedict Arnold also ended up a pathetic mess.

Jeffords' book about his "Declaration of Independence" has this GREAT review on amazon.com, no doubt by a FREEPer:

"Double quilted for extra softness, it's gentle on my sensitive nether regions, yet strong enough to leave me feeling really clean."

I grew up with Quisp. I knew the Quisp character. I ate Quisp cereal.
You, Senator Jeffords, are no Quisp.

Jim Jeffords apparently doesn't remember who, or what, Jim Jeffords once was. Had he any resolve, he would have resigned from his office in May, 2001, and run as a Democrat or Independent for his vacant seat.

And so far as NOT being a Democrat, why did he immediately align his vote with the Democrat minority? Walks like one, talks like one, the only conclusion is that he IS one.

Now there's a true blue, Kerry wannabe!

Pathetic.

Benedict Arnold also ended up a pathetic mess.

At least Benedict was a competant general. More than be said for Jeffords.

In The Right Man Dave Frum gives Jeffords a few damning pages concerning his pathetic petulant act that so bedeviled the early months of G.W.'s administration. The fact is, Jeffords was an indecisive coward who dithered and fretted his moment away. He didn't have the guts to just cross the aisle, he had to gradually work up his courage by picking escalating fights with the administration. When he finally decided his (barf!) conscience could no longer allow him to stay republican even then he didn't have the guts to call himself a democrat. Furthermore, by then it was already too late in the legislative session to do much good for the dems. By then, all the big issues had been voted on. The dem leadership has treated him with utter contempt behind the scenes from that day to this.
