WASHINGTON -- Rep. Bernard Sanders used campaign donations to pay his wife and stepdaughter more than $150,000 for campaign-related work since 2000, according to records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
Jane O'Meara Sanders, his wife, received $91,020 between 2002 and 2004 for "consultation" and for negotiating the purchase of television and radio time-slots for Sanders' advertisements, according to records and interviews.

This is probably one of a hundred that pays their relatives campaign money for work. But its only a problem when its a republican.
To: KC Burke
sounds like he got their services on the cheap.
30,000 for 5 years of negotiating TV contracts for the wife. And about 13K a yr for the daughter to be campaign mgr/offfice mgr etc.
this is so non-news.

Yes. That is the recognized double-standard. Didn't you get the memo on this?

The libs will defend their own unlike the backstabbing republican RINOs like McCain et.al. who will pounce on the opportunity to destroy a conservative regardless if they have done anything wrong.

Indeed it is non-news for a Democrat. But it is a hanging offense for a Republican.

Please help FReepers understand; your comment about Sanders being a socialist is not just an accusation.
He does NOT run on the Democrat ticket.
He runs for Congress as a Socialist, not a Dem, in The People's Republic of Vermont, and wins!
Of course, he caucuses with the Dems and votes with them, but he is openly an avowed Socialist.

The other 'true to form' old (by now, to FReepers at least) rule is that when party affiliation isn't mentioned.....(you know the rest).
To: KC Burke
everyone does it, its not illegal...its the MSM that presents it as a Delay only problem and most of the kool aid drinkers buy it hook, line, and sinker...

You got that exactly right. If a republican does it, it's bad. Period.

No... it's a problem if Bernie does it. It's a crime if DeLay has done it.

Sen. Lincoln Chafee used campaign funds to pay Rep. Barney Frank to bend over each time he and Sen. John McCain shared the same hotdog together.

Sorry, your comment has failed the "so what?" test. Here are some other truisms of the MSM:
- Blacks cannot be racists.
- Women cannot be sexists.
- Only right-wingers can be radicals.
Well, you get the hint...

So the question is.. do we put up with it all or do we fire them all?
Since I'm not so sure anything is going to happen to anybody.. it will turn out to be a slugfest.. everyone pointing out politicans on both sides of appearing improper until both sides cry uncle and say no more.
