Besides being ClintonBeGone's patron saint, next week will mark the 169 anniversary of General D. Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, having his army destroyed and his ass handed to him by a rag-tag group of American volunteer patriots

And a few years later he got it handed to him again, resulting in the acquisition of California, New Mexico and Arizona, plus settlement of the question of the southern border of what was by then the State of Texas. My Mexican exchange student "daughter" was taught that Santa Ana was a traitor, but in reality he was just a military dictator, who was good at raising and equipping an Army but lousy at leading it in battle.

Seems to me I remember reading about Santa Anna escaping one of his defeats, dressed as a woman.
