There is "un grupo", or "an grupo", I guess. "el" in this context, is the same as "the" "an the group" doesn't make sense, even in Spanglish. :)
it was comedic in intent.
I lived amongst spanish and portugese speakers mostly from 80-96.
I can read espanol better but "hear" portugese better....thanks to mi ex-esposa.
When I was fluent it was sort of a Portanol-glish admittedly.
Pero, you are correcto.
It should be in that context....un grupo (a group).
El grupo would be (the group).
Tu eres un (el)gato.
Eu soy un gaton! en mis sonhos.
LOL
The irony inherent in the fact that I used to be so danged multicultural in all things latino ...South American in particular....and am now such an immigration hawk does not escape me.
There was a time I figured somewhere in SouthernbBrasil or High Guatemala or maybe Caracas would be home for me forever as an expat. My daughters did not speak Ingles well till kindergarten...that was rude to my folks and I was too blind to see it then....hormones and all.
Anyhow...now I'm a southern provincial chauvanist...back to my roots naturally.
I can think of a few posters here including El Jefe ...who wished I'd stayed in South America...lol
I'm glad I'm here...the medical care I've needed past 14 months I'd be a dead man if I'd stayed in the 3rd world.
