The word "homosexual" was invented in the mid/late 1800s by a homosexual in order to create a sense of special community among those who, until he invented that word, were called sodomites and pederasts. Would you prefer we use those words instead?

Yes, at least sodomite is a real word. Can you explain to me the the recent fascination with isms and ists? Islamist, Islamism, homosexualism, homosexualist, etc etc. What was wrong with Islamic, and homosexual? What am I missing here that that required these new conjugations?

A homoselxualist is one who, although not practicing same sex sodomy him or herslf, promotes it as a political and social goal. Homosexualism is the philosohpy and POV such people hold.

I used to use the word "sodomite" and people became enraged. It's just a neutral, descriptive word, but no, it mustn't be uttered.
