W's got very ecclectic musical tastes. Not unexpected ... he's a 21st century Renaissance Man.

Ah, dear Elisabeth. She drags out "Fortnate Son" even though it is NOT on the paylist. Then she reminds us that George Jones is an alcoholic, just like "you-know-who."
I hope she is indicted and tried for her refusal to out her sources. It couldn't happen to a better person.

What, no Grateful Dead :-) Did notice a Joni tune there "You're so square baby I don't care" I like a lot of the songs that President Bush has on his iPod :-)

Meanwhile, Levy sized up the rest of the president's playlist. "What we're talking about is a lot of great artists from the 60s and 70s and more modern artists who sound like great artists from the 60s and 70s," he said. "This is basically boomer rock 'n' roll and more recent music out of Nashville made for boomers. It's safe, it's reliable, it's loving. What I mean to say is, it's feel-good music. The Sex Pistols it's not."Hummmmmmm..... sounds a lot like me...

I hope she is indicted and tried for her refusal to out her sources. It couldn't happen to a better person. Indicted for failing to reveal her sources regarding such a high security topic as an Ipod playlist? Huh?

The Dead's best work was live and it was mainly recorded in analog. I have several thousand hours and I've been able to convert put it on CDs without any problem, but I think the essense would be lost if it was converted to MP3 format.

I'd hate to know what song's BJ Klintoon listens to."Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew?
Anything by Bob Marley? (although I do like some of his stuff, I will admit)
The DUmmie anthem of "Let Me Hear You Say 'Uhhh'!" by that lyrical genius Master P?
Those are just some guesses...

Re: Fortunate Son...
The song seems to be about the president in all but name: As the son of a two-term congressman and a U.S. Senate candidate, Bush won a coveted spot with the Texas Air National Guard to avoid combat in Vietnam.
That's funny, I always have associated that song with Al Gore....

Fogerty was a "fortunate son", however, so the ironies abound.

The president also has an eclectic mix of songs downloaded into his iPod from Mark McKinnon, a biking buddy and his chief media strategist in the 2004 campaign.Oh no, here comes the RIAA!
And I wonder what the anti file-sharing Nazis here on Free Republic have to say about that. After all, if it isn't okay to download songs off KaZaa, then how is it any different scoffing free tunes from your buddies?
Anyway, I have most of the songs mentioned here on my iPod with about 7,400 others. No doubt about it, the iPod is the greatest consumer product of the 21st Century so far. My entire music library is on the go, anywhere, anytime I want it.

Bush, as leader of the free world, does not take the time to download the music himself; that task falls to his personal aide, Blake Gottesman, who buys individual songs and albums, including greatest hits by Jones and Jackson, from the iTunes music store.

And if copyright laws weren't rewritten every couple of years to suit corporate interests, many of those songs would be public domain already.

I have an old LP from a group called "Black Oak Arkansas" which has a lot of X-rated mountain-style tunes. True, I swear.
