"As I have said repeatedly, burning the American flag was wrong," Asgharzadeh said through a translator. "And even back then, there were many students just like me who thought we should not burn the American flag. We had no right to insult the sacred symbol of another nation."

Mark Bowden also met with him and wrote of the same statements in the december issue of THE ATLANTIC MONTHLY.

I still want to punch Ibraham's face in, though.

Nice to know that even this aging, Iranian revolutionary POS has more respect for Old Glory than our very own Libs.

That kind of puts the blame right where it should be, the liberal press, doesn't it? The left has never met a dictatorship or repressive regime it didn't like.

I agree that the media is trying to divert attention from the looming crisis over Iranian nukes. Nevertheless, it is refreshing to know that 26 years of barbaric Islamofascist oppression has begun to convince ordinary Iranians that perhaps trading the Shah for the mullahs was like jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire.

"There's a very positive image of American people in this society," said Siamak Namazi, a pollster. "Some almost argue that Iran is the last pro-American society in the Middle East."

Do Iranians that share the tradition of Nuroz common in Central Asia consider themselves as part of Middle East?

Well, maybe Iran was a victim of Communist propaganda from Soviet Union for the Anti-US movement.

He is a scumbag, he started something that came back and bit him in the butt, and now he wants to be our friend??

What Iran did was an act of War then, the Commies led the riots, they united under a madman Khomenie, and then exported all the Islamic terrorism the world has today.

If Ashgarzideh wants me to forgive him, he needs to get on his knees and renounce the Communist/Islamic philosophy he holds.

The revolution of 1979 didn't have support among major groups of Iranian society.

It is very wrong if we think that it was supported by majority of Iranians.

I know Persian people who cried when the Shah left Iran in January 1979 and hated the Khomeini for years in their hearts.

I can tell you that most Iranians are unhappy with their country's location.

This is the most grotesque disinformation I've read yet from a liberal source on the situation inside Iran.

-- Everytime I want to just forget about these Democrats and leave them to themselves as completely irrelevant smallminded fools, they pull me right back in!

I think the reason he is talking like this, is that he is no longer in power to screw Iranian people up.
Otherwise he could be proud of taking the Americans as hostage back in 1979...
