Personally, I think that anyone-if sufficiently funded-would be able to hold HRC to below 55% of the vote.

District Attorney Pirro, former Congressman Paxon, Congressman Sweeney, etc., etc...

Arthur Finklestein-the former guru of the D'amato/Pataki machine-is also supposedly working on an independent effort-utilizing the ubiquitous 527 PAC-as a means of ousting Hillary.

I think we should keep our eyes on the ball here.

The point of her reelection campaign is to solidify her standing as the preeminent Democrat in this country.

If she fails to garner a significant margin of victory-say 10 points or more-then her chances of being the nominee in 2008 are virtually nil.

The idea of nominating another NE liberal is unappealing enough. But to nominate one who barely holds sway with a majority of voters within New York state is sheer folly.

I respectfully disagree. As long as she wins NY, she is the nominee in '08. She has put the whole organization together, has visited the troops, has done favors for other RATS, and if anyone gets in her way, he will end up next to a cannon in a park.
