Sure they can -- have you forgotten Trent Lott and the chorus right here on FR, screaming to have him resign his majority leader position? Do you remember WHY they demanded that he resign? How ridiculous can you get and the Republicans didn't stand up for him.
The Dems can't touch the Republicans, unless they cooperate but they do, very obligingly to the Dems, most of the time.

Yet I was discouraged at home many, even here, accepted everything the MSM said about Terri Schiavo and never looked at the other side. ("She's brain-dead! There have been 100 hearings already! 80% of all Americans say to 'let' her die [i.e. starve her to death]! Everyone hates what Congress and the President tried to do for her!")
To hear some posters here, it was as if Memogate and the last 13 years had never happened.
