Because the American experience has been an entirely different one for Jews than from any other time, period.
"there have been periods in history where Muslim countries were extremely tolerant and hospitable of Christians and Jews"
No comparison. In America, Jewish rights are guaranteed in the founding document that the whole nation is built upon. "Tolerance" doesn't come close.
I never said one time that Jews ought to take the conversions sitting down. Not once. I simply say, and am right, that using an analogy that parallels islam with Christianity in America (that's who is debating here -- Americans) is incorrect.
Why won't "Christians for Mohammad" work in America? Islam in America is just another religion.
I can understand why you'd reject an analogy where the C4M present their religion as a religion of peace, joy, equality, etc. How about this: a group called "Christians for Mohammad" present themselves as representatives of a religion that focuses on piety, faith, and devotion to God through "the five pillars of faith," and that Mohammad is the latest prophet to represent the God we all worship. They say that the religion is not an easy one to observe, but it represents the true completion of Christ's message on Earth, and that they are Christians just like you and should be accepted as such.
If you said, "no, you're Muslims," would it be okay for me to call you a bigot?
