You are correct. There is almost NO independent historical evidence to back up Jesus. That is why Christians must meet Him face-to-face in order to believe.

Good gravy, there is scads of "independent" historical evidence to "back up Jesus." Judge the Gospels and the New Testament by the same standards used to judge any other ancient texts, from Homer to Socrates to Josephus--they well exceed those texts in legitimacy. That leaves one with the age-old problem of how to deal with the testimony of these eyewitnesses: Did He really feed five thousand? Did He really cure the blind? Did He really rise from the dead? You can reject the testimony or accept it, but you cannot with any credibility deny that the story told by the Apostles has been consistently told for 2,000 years.

Christianity is not based purely on "belief," it is firmly based in logic. Read Aquinas, read Augustine, read C.S. Lewis. The answers to all questions about Christianity are out there, if you seek them.

The poster who is ranting against Christianity and slandering Saint Paul sounds like Dan Brown's little brother. Lots of heat, no light.
