I don't believe any of it.

Your ignorance doesn't make Paul a liar, sSimply because you don't believe him.

You are correct. There is almost NO independent historical evidence to back up Jesus. That is why Christians must meet Him face-to-face in order to believe.

Your entire religion hinges on the truthfulness of this one man. Is Paul divine? Is he a son of God too?

How do you know he was telling the truth?

All of Judaism is about substitition for sins.

Explain that one.

I admit that I did not know that the eucharist was "the entire gospel." I am shocked to learn that. Any Jew who would convert to Christianity is in worse shape than I imagined.

Anyone could preach the sermon on the mount. Only Jesus can die for our sins. He asked that we remember this act by drinking wine and bread.

Your ignorance is showing again. You would do yourself a favor to actually read the NT before you make statements that merely show ignorance.

Read Leviticus, focus on sin offering.

Look. I said the following:

One man cannot die for the sins of another. The Old Testament says that three different times. Each man is responsible for his own sins.

To which you responded:

All of Judaism is about substitition for sins. Your ignorance of christianity is surpassed by your ignorance of Judaism.

Explain what you mean by that.

You: Your ignorance is showing again. You would do yourself a favor to actually read the NT before you make statements that merely show ignorance.

http://stpaulsparish.org/St_%20Paul%20Biography.html

Paul had a profound effect on the development of Christian theology including promulgation of the concepts of redemption through faith in Christ, the abrogation of the old Law and the beginning of the age of the Spirit, Christ as the eternal Son of God, His pre-existence before the Incarnation, His exaltation to God's right hand after the Resurrection, the Church as the mystical Body of Christ, and the belief that Christians live in Christ and will eventually be transformed at the final resurrection.

So if Paul made all this up while he was wandering in Arabia for three years, then it is all a fraud. Your entire religion hinges on the honesty of this one man, a man who admitted that he would say anything.

Because he remninds his readers that they also saw Jesus after His resurrection -- at one point, as he points out, 500 saw Jesus at one time. If he was lying, he readers were know it.

But the "Jews can never be Christians" fetishists have effectively hijacked the thread. Congratulations.

LOL. Somehow, I'm guessing that you'd find it quite all right for Christian posters to point out all that is wrong with Christians converting to Judaism, should I start posting some of those stories. Bet the "they'll burn in hell" comments wouldn't be considered hijacking the thread in that case. ;-)

This is what Paul said:

"For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;

And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve:

After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep.

After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles.

And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time."

He says "I delivered unto you," in other words, "I told you." He is definitely not addressing people who were actual witnesses. He is addressing people who are taking his word that these things happened. These people are in Corinth.

He's talking about people who are still alive. They could be asked. It would be like me talking about what freepers have seen posted on FR. I could easily be found out to be a liar, if I was lying.

Paul never met these 500 people. He says he is relating "which I also received," which means he was supposedly told about them, presumably by Peter.

And, in any case, he is writing to people in Corinth. How could they check out the story?

"What you are saying is that God did not send his son to earth to tell the people how to live, he merely sent him here to die. That makes no sense."

It makes a lot of sense if you read the true Gospels - the NT - and convert to accept Jesus as the only Savior.
