If the Federal Government wanted to seal the border it could. It could easily be contracted out at a fraction of the cost of what illegals are costing the taxpayers every day.

The border is secured just so much as to make it look to the taxpayers that the Government is trying, but not so much that it is actually effectual.

Democrats need to import their future voters, after all, and Republican business interests need their labor costs as low as possible.

Thanks Plut, I thought I was the only one here in favor of smaller government.

Not only could we contract out surveillance (possible bidders) but we could also contract out the prison work too (list of bidders for prison services).  Let's go one step further.  Why don't we outsource the prison work to companies in say, Uganda?

By the way, I don't know how to set up a "ping" list, and would appreciate it if someone would tell me how.

Several posters have mentioned going after the corporations that hire the illegals, but I'm not sure just how far that idea would go.

What's happening-in my area anyway, and probably in yours-is that the corporations are actually hiring temporary services, and it is the temp services which actually hire the illegals.

Temp services hire just about anybody they can get:good people down on their luck, parolees, and people with "brand new" Social Security cards that don't match anything Social Security ever issued.

Illegals register with several temp services,so they can get in plenty of hours. The temp agencies provide van transportation to the job sites (cost deducted from the workers' pay),and they have "no-questions-asked" arrangements with check cashing services-all of which are more than happy to sell the worker a money order (un giro)so some of the proceeds can be sent to the folks at home.

After a while - assuming the temp employer even bothers to submit SS and IRS data on the illegals - the shiny new SS cards "go sour"...at which time, the illegal produces another one , and becomes Pablo Sanchez, instead of Julio Escobar.

As you can see from this, the most satisfactory solution (from a taxpayer standpoint) is to repatriate the "intending immigrant" before he/she has a chance to burrow into our vulnerable skin !

Corporate America claims to be Republican or Democrat...or anything else that seems useful.

Its only real allegiance is to its own interests;which, I suppose, is the way things should be.
