Seven people were indicted in connection to the double homicide involving two victims found shot and burned to death in the trunk of a vehicle earlier this year.
According to court documents, the 49th District Court issued the indictments March 29; arraignment is set for April 22 at 8 a.m.
The seven defendants are all charged with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated kidnapping, and two counts of engaging in organized criminal activity; all are felony 1 offenses punishable by life imprisonment (or up to 99 years behind bars) and a fine not to exceed $10,000.
All seven defendants are accused of intentionally or knowingly causing the death of 38-year-old Enrique Botello Jr. and 26-year-old Roberto Bianco Patino, on or about Jan. 15.
Their bodies were found at about 8:15 p.m. that day, burned beyond recognition in the trunk of a blazing vehicle, several miles east of Laredo off Highway 359 in the Pueblo Nuevo Subdivision.
Both bodies had to undergo complete forensic autopsies, dental examinations and DNA testing for identification purposes.
According to court documents, the defendants, acting as members of a criminal street gang, kidnapped the victims, shot the victims with a firearm, then locked them up in the trunk of the vehicle and set them on fire.
The seven suspects indicted by the 49th District Court on March 29 are as follows: 38-year-old Fausto Reyes who resides at the 200 block of East Plum Street; 37-year-old Jaime Tomas Hernandez Rocha, a.k.a. Jaime "El Pelon" Rocha, who resides at the 2500 block of Ligarde Street; Michael Anthony "Shorty" Alegria, 21, who resides at the 4000 block of Chickasaw Lane; Jose Angel "Joey" Alegria, Jr., 22, also of the 4000 block of Chickasaw Lane; Reynaldo "El Peine" Roberto Esparza, 27, of the 2900 block of East Stewart; Rogelio Peña, Jr. 38, of the 3900 block of Bearclaw Lane; and a seventh unidentified John Doe suspect, identified on the court documents simply by his alias, "Rafa;" he has an un-known ad-dress and date of birth.
While two suspects, Jaime "El Pelon" Rocha and Jose Angel "Joey" Alegria, are currently in the custody of officials; authorities still need help finding the other five.
Authorities urge the citizens of Laredo to be on the lookout for Rogelio Peña Jr., 38. He stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 180 pounds; his last known address is at the 3900 block of Bearclaw Lane.
Reynaldo "El Peine" Esparza, 27, is also wanted by authorities at this time. He stands 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 235 pounds. He has a tattoo on the left side of his neck with the words- "El Peine."
Also, at large at this time are 38-year-old Fausto Reyes, who stands 5 feet 4 inches and weighs about 165 pounds and has a distinguishing tattoo on the right side of his chest; and an unidentified man known as "Rafa" - his whereabouts are unknown.
"The suspects are being sought for a violent crime," Webb County Spokesperson Tom Sanchez warned Thursday. "It is unknown whether they are armed and dangerous but we advise prospective witnesses to contact any available law enforcement entity immediately rather than (taking matters into their own hands)," he said.
Anyone with information on the suspect's whereabouts is urged to contact any available law enforcement agency, Sanchez said.
Those wishing to remain anonymous, could also contact Crimes Stoppers at 727-TIPS (8477), and be eligible for a cash reward.

Oh, geez. For a second I thought seven people were convicted of having burning hemorrhoids. Then I see it was homicide.
I see the court determined that they were perfect a$$holes.
They are probably all safely in Mexico.
Is Laredo still part of Texas?
Is Pueblo Nuevo part of Texas?
Are any of the perps/victims legal US citizens of Laredo/Pueblo Nuevo?
Fry em all. Keep them from ever getting out and killing someone else.
Makes me wish they still had public executions.
