I can tell you what part of my rationalization is. That every religious system I'm aware of that includes gods has their gods created ex nihilo. Therefore, no reason exists to hypothesize gods solely in order to avoid creation ex nihilo since hypothesizing them doesn't.

The Norse gods have one. The Romans, the Egyptians. The Chinese don't... but they also hold that their one God is a supreme idea that has always been, and they chose not to focus on Him.
