Likewise....

Genesis 1

1. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

Matthew Chapter Five Verse Thirtynine

KJV    But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

NIV    But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.

ASV   but I say unto you, resist not him that is evil: but whosoever smiteth thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also.

Still nothing about stealing.......

Roman law (Israel WAS under their conrol) allowed a centurion to 'compel' any able-bodied person to carry his belongings for a mile.

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

This is clear to me.

Soup or sandwich, both requires a someone to plan the concoction, select the ingredients, mix them in just the right order, and heat them for just the right time and at the right temperature.

I have a problem with common descent being treated religiously. What would happen to a biologist who thought outside the box & proposed a separate origion for each of the six (or five) kingdoms?

You can think outside the box all you like, but at the end of the day you need to have some evidence to back you up and come up with a model that supports the data.

So what physical evidence could possibly proove that God doesn't exist? For a test to be meaningful, there must be some possibility of both failure and success. If all possible observations would lead to success, then there really is no test that is meaningful. That's the situation WRT God's existence. All possible observations are consistent with the existence of God; therefore a meaningful scientific test of God's existence is not possible.

So Jesus then meant that only that one individual should sell all he had and give it to the poor? Usually, Biblical parables and stories are meant to apply generally, even when Jesus was only speaking to one individual. For example, are we only supposed to help a stranger who is in trouble if he is a Jew and we are a Samaritan? Or are we supposed to help our neighbor in general?
