I am not Catholic but greatly admired and respected Pope John Paul II for his commitment to the church and his willingness to speak out for what is right. Those "Catholics" who are now seeing this as an opportunity to put the church on the course they choose is disturbing. Maybe they should just join the Universal Unitarians. I'm sure they'd be much happier.

there are those in every religion that are not happy...to that I can only say they will never be happy, I feel bad for them, we should all pray for them!!! That is what our beloved Holy Father would want us to do.

Oh no, that wouldn't make them happy at all. If they left the church, the church would remain as it is, and that's what can't be allowed. Their mission is not just to change the catholic church to their liking but to destroy the church. They can only destroy the church from within.

They want to destroy the Catholic Church, not find a place to worship. The ACLU attacks the Boy Scouts instead of forming a Queer Atheists Scouts because they don't want straight religious boys to have a place to meet without being indoctrinated to the queer atheist agenda. Similarly, the so-called liberal Catholics want to destroy the Catholic Church, as the Word of God is an offense to them.

I heard somebody the other day, it might have been Donohue, talk about how the left has this idea that the College of Cardinals and the Papacy is something like a Roman Catholic Supreme Court that can be pressured, lobbied, massaged, manipulated, twisted, and tortured until eventually somebody comes along who will give them what they want.

What they fail to understand is that these are matters of decided church doctrine and are not subject to revision or revisitation, overturning or overthrowing. They are what they are and the Pope has no power to change what has been decided in times past.

I hope that's true. If this Conclave produces another strong conservative it will be the strongest impetus for me yet to dump the Episcopal and be received into the Roman church. That Rome is where I need to be to defend the Principles of Truth against the whimsical self-referential "truth" of secular princes.

I remember when my daughter was in Catholic school and there were many non-Catholics that would send their children as well. When their little John or Hillary couldn't behave or perform according to the rules they would storm in demanding the school conform to the child or their wishes. The administrators and volunteer parents would say "a Catholic education isn't for everyone".
Maybe, the Catholic Church isn't for everyone, perhaps they need to reevaluate their choices. Maybe, just maybe, you need to make a conscious choice about your FAITH. The Church embraces you, but you must embrace the Church as well.
(I must also say this applied to some of the CINO's as well).
