Indeed, the voting strength and preferences of Mexican-Americans are shaping US policy toward Mexico.

This line was slipped into the middle of a long paragraph, but it's the key to the entire dilemma. Unless illegal immigration is stopped NOW, demographics (and illegal voting) will be destiny. And it won't be stopped IMO because neither political party has the will to face up to the long-term consequences nor offend hispanic voters.

That's why there's such politial/media frenzy over the Minuteman Project, which takes the lid off a very smelly pot of cooking frog. The elites have almost parboiled the frog without the frog knowing it. Thus we have the obscenity of a President calling his own citizens "vigilantes" for performing a Constitutional duty his administration refuses to do.

I think the reality of citizen-based republican government has been dying or dead since the 1970s. Most "Americans" don't even know what it really is any longer.

This is true. Some people say that if you are under 50 years old, the public school you went to was already contaminated against the founding principles of the Republic, and those in that age group, unless they had very dedicated parents never learned the responsibilities of their citizenship or how to preserve their republic.

That's the plot of my next novel, about the Aztlanization of the Southwest, until it demands political autonomy.

I have read, in various places, that about 90 percent of Republicans, 75 percent of DEMOCRATS, and 40 percent of HISPANICS oppose illegal immigration. It's not great amongst Hispanics, but it's still quite robust. Knowing those numbers, if I were running for national office, I would tell the Hispanic lobby to go shove it! They can take their Reconquistadores elsewhere!
