well yes, some seem better able to forgive, many have not forgiven Law and many are not happy that he seemed to be, well, promoted given his gross incompetence, I tend to sympathize with that side - has Law actually publicly repented or apologized to the victims? I imagine the lawyers wouldn't let him.

But don't you think for sheer PR purposes you would keep Cardinal Law locked away, give him a trip to the Caribbean for the next week or so, why even tempt tainting the funeral

well here are the pagan sources reporting on the same story now:

Vatican Gives Cardinal Law Role of Honor
Associated Press
http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/world/wire/sns-ap-pope-cardinal-law,0,7156582.story?coll=sns-ap-world-headlines

Boston Herald - catching up to the Globe
Law's role angers victims Boston Herald
http://news.bostonherald.com/localRegional/view.bg?articleid=76597

Hmmmm CBS News is reporting it on the web too , maybe we do have to wait for more facts, LOL and check out the headline:
Notorious U.S. Cardinal Honored
http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2005/04/07/world/main686346.shtml

oh but they've just posted AP's article with a different headline
