In his own sad little way...Jimmy Carter is a walking talking "funeral" all unto himself.

George is not a hateful person. It is Carters' ego and lack of perspective that got him into this mess.

Too bad. Some never learn.

If/when the Vatican needs conclave observers for their elections, Jimmah will be the first one called.

Well, I hope that isn't the case. I'd rather they flat-out froze the bastard out instead of making an excuse.

Could also be that Ford left office before JPII became the Pope. Thought I heard that each country was limited to five attendees.

Jimmy thought so much of the Vatican Nation that he continued the tradition of not having a US Ambassador to the Vatican!! It was President Reagan that established the Ambassadorship!

Isn't it interesting that all the presidents attending are post USSR presidents.

Carter is the worst president and the worst EXpresident. Carter is only a spokesman for adocating american weakness.

He was suckered by the USSR, he continues to be suckered by the communists, he is an arrogant, self absorbed egomaniac.

The fact that carter (or his "peoples") leaked the story is pure lefts hubris. He should take the nobel prize he CAMPAIGNED for year after year and ....

Why wasn't Gerald Ford invited ?

President Ford has been in poor health for some time now. He suffered a stroke a while back. I may be mistaken, but I think he was unable to attend President Reagan's funeral last year because of his health.

Good....he has not earned the right to go officially, though he can go as a private citizen. He has actively supported many of the things diametrically opposed to the Pope's beliefs....as a Catholic I say go W.....rigt move
