Abide by WHAT?!! Reagan was twice-married and that didn't preclude him from leading the Right...MUD
I wasn't referring to each man's marital bliss.
One thing to say that Reagan was divorced and remarried, and another to say that what he did was sinful. By all accounts Jane Wyman divorced him.On a personal note, Miss Wyman has been married several times: Myron Futterman - married June 29, 1937; divorced November 1, 1938, Ronald Reagan - married January 26, 1940; divorced June 28, 1948, and Fred Karger twice - married November 1, 1952; divorced December 7, 1954 - remarried March 11, 1961; divorced March 9, 1965. She had a daughter, Maureen Reagan, born January 4, 1941; died of malignant melanoma August 8, 2001. She has a son, Michael Reagan, born March 18, 1945; adopted by Jane Wyman and Ronald Reagan on March 21, 1945. A daughter, Christine Reagan, was born prematurely on June 26, 1947 and passed away nine hours later. Her Best Actress Oscar for Johnny Belinda makes her the only wife of a future U.S. president ever to win such an award. Jane WymanIf Wyman initiated the divorce of Mr. Reagan, that does not condem him but her. OTOH Wyman's first marriage, to Myron Futterman, would in Christian principle still have been binding on Ms. Wyman if it was not Mr. Futterman but Ms. Wayman who initiated it. If Wyman initiated both her first and second divorces, it can be argued from scripture that Reagan's marriage to Ms. Wyman was adulterous and the one to Nancy Davis was not.If Wyman's first divorce was initiated by her husband and if (as I understand it) she herself initiated the second one, Reagan was just a victim of the second divorce rather than being a perpetrator. And if Wyman did initiate the first divorce, you might say that Reagan sinned by marrying her - and paid dearly for it when Wyman did it to him, too.
