Afterall, if a a judge can ignore one, why shouldn't anyone else

Because they are not a JUDGE, who obviously have special dispensation to violate whatever laws, including the the Constitution itself.

The GOP controlled Congress is not going to do anything because they are fine with what happened in FL. With few exceptions the rest just wanted a little political cover.

The Republicans spent a great deal of political muscle for naught.

I agree with that statement. And I never thought I would live to see the day I agreed with anything Waxman would say. But he is correct in this instance. I wish that Congress and the President would have stayed out of this mess entirely. Fortunately, they finally saw their limitations and pulled back. But not without leaving a confused constituency.

I agree. That is their political, poll-driven conclusion. Doesn't make it morally or legally right. This is just more evidence that "doing the right thing" is becoming a scarce commodity.

Any ideas Frist had about being President should have rightfully dried up. He's as ball-less as Trent Lott was. He's backpedaled on the so-called "nuclear option" and now this. The only thing Frist hasn't done is afix his lips to Harry Reid's ass but I'm sure that's somewhere on the agenda.

Re: "I recommend backbone replacement therapy."

That will not be enough. You also need a gut replacement, gonads replacement, heart replacement, intellect replacement, ear (they don't listen) replacement, hands (to do the right thing) replacement, feet (to walk the talk) replacement.

Wouldn't it be easier to have a third party replacement?

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Senate Majority Leader Bill
Frist told reporters on Tuesday that he's not interested in having
the Senate go after judges who violated a federal law Congress
passed mandating that Terri Schiavo's starvation death be stopped
and allowing her parents to take their lawsuit to federal courts.

"I believe we have a fair and independent judiciary today," he said.

OUTRAGEOUS !!!

Isn't that the truth? I had thought that maximizing the authority of states was the universally accepted position of the conservative coalition. I had thought that overturning Roe v. Wade, and therefore allowing states to pass laws on abortion as they see fit, was the goal. This was the basis of the coalition, since others, such as myself, feel that the federal government should be limited. We only need to look at environmental regulations, where NE and west coast liberals have absurdly dictated Alaskan economic development policy to know the need to limit the feds. However, we now know that many Republicans are unwilling to allow red-state Florida, governed by a Republican, and legislated by Republicans, to handle her own affairs (however wrong/misguided/immoral they are).

What comes now is the determination of whether or not this coalition is a farce. Do the Republicans want to overturn Roe v. Wade in order to allow states to regulate/ban abortion as they see fit? Or do they want to overturn Roe v. Wade in order to enact federal legislation on abortion?

Hopefully it's the former, since it would be senseless to overturn it (ie: no constitutional right to abortion) simply to create a law doing the same thing. But these days, who knows?

I think it's a ploy - because Frist is focused on getting Bush's nominees through the Senate .. THEN he can turn his focus on the other judges.

Please understand how politics works - it's not black and white and expecting it to be that is unrealistic. If people would just spend a little time finding out what the realities are it would be a whole lot less stressful.

I believe Frist has backed off and allowed DeLay to lead the charge because DeLay has a stronger base in the House and it's actually the House that has to do the investigation and bring charges. Frist does not have to be involved yet .. and Senator George Allen has stated that if the constitutional option is going to be used - it will be better to use it now instead of waiting until we have two USSC seats to fill.

If Frist had 55 locked and loaded repubs - there would be no problem - but he doesn't. There are those pesky RINO's to be concerned about.

ALSO - REMEMBER - TOMORROW FR PEOPLE are going to be Marching on Congress - lobbying for judicial nominees and better border protection.

And .. later in this month - Roger Hedgecock will be showing up with his 1000 or so people from all over the USA to also lobby the Congress. The Congress is going to be hit hard this month and I'm hoping it will wake a lot of people up.

BE SURE YOU ASK YOUR CONGRESS PERSON - WHY ARE YOU LISTENING TO THE DEMOCRATS ..?? THEY DIDN'T ELECT YOU - WE DID.

It's time conservatives realize who the true enemy -- liberal and lukewarm Republicans. Such Republicans must be purged from the GOP.

If Frist wants to have any hope of a successful Presidential run, then he will get busy finding ways to the Bush judicial nominees into the courts by any means necessary and will start pushing for legislation that prevents the euthanization of the disabled. If not, any primary run in 2008 will be DOA.

In the first place, Frist in saying this has badly damaged the institution he professes to lead, the Senate. Who will pay attention to a congressional subpoena in the future, when it can be successfully scoffed at like this?

In the second place, he has killed his chances to run for the presidency. I have had mixed feelings about him, but this tears it, as far as I am concerned. We don't need a man like this in the White House.

Who is he reassuring? What audience is he speaking to? The leftists aren't going to support him no matter what he says, but pro-life conservatives will be deeply offended by this kind of gratuitous insult. He didn't have to say anything if he wanted to be a coward, but saying this is like poking a finger in the eye of the voters who just gave the Republicans five more members in the Senate.

Sure, you can say one thing and do another. But what possible reason did he have to say this, other than to appease his natural enemies in the press?

Does this clown Frist even own a pair of balls??? Man, we waited years for the GOP to win a majority in Congress and the WH and this is what we get????

I believe we are seeing the very truth of this "Two-Party Cartel. Nobody that has any true conservatism can be like many of these pubbie senator dunces. There's got to be more behind it. I'm close to a total bouycott of elections. Let's just call it a oligarchy & move on. Why pretend that elections matter. They don't listen to their constituents ala the illegal issue.

You are spot on. The left wouldn't vote for him if he performed abortions in his Senate office.

The other two branches of government have lost sight of the difference between followers of law and blind obedience to judges.

Frist is my Senator.

I will not support him for President.

As of today, I like George Allen or a governor.

I think this whole think opened a lot of republican eyes.
My dad was blasting PO'd when all those republicans pulled what they pulled with Terri S.
And now the memo thing....with that mole from the enemy putting a phony memo.
Martinez would have approved of such a memo in a million years.
Did any one post that story yet?
