25 Million couldn't buy the presidency.. but it could Buy the Republican Congress!

Banks spent 25 Million lobbying cogress for their bankruptcy bill... most expensive BILL EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES and the Republican Congress rolled over and gave MBNA et al exactly what they wanted!

I am a die hard conservative, but the Republicans have to answer BIG TIME for this one!

so that's the fundamental thing you want out of this party - the ability for people to rack up debts and then walk away into bankruptcy and dump the costs on the rest of us who responsibly pay our bills and live within our means?

FWIW, I am Republican and I think they did the right thing. We are too soft on deadbeats and we should make it harder for people to use bankruptcy as a way to escape responsibility.

If we lower the costs to others of bankrupcy, we lower the cost of credit, banking, etc... Kind of like how tort reform in Texas helped us get lower insurance rates. Yes, it really happened, I saw it in my insurance bill.
