Fort Lauderdale, April 2, 2004 Dr. D. James Kennedy talks to ABC newsman Peter Jennings Monday, April 5, about The Search for Jesus and the search for truth. Their discussion will air on Dr. Kennedys daily radio program, Truths That Transform, carried by more than 480 radio outlets nationwide. (For local listings or to listen online Monday, April 5, go to www.truthsthattransform.org).
The interview with Jennings comes four years after the Jennings-hosted ABC News special, The Search for Jesus and just hours before the broadcast of ABC News latest exploration of Christian origins, Jesus and Paul: The Word and the Witness, which airs April 5.
Jennings first special, notable for providing viewers a mostly liberal cast of guest experts (five liberals, one moderate, and one conservative), so dismayed Dr. Kennedy that he determined to produce and air an answer: Who Is This Jesus, a prime-time television documentary that aired Christmas 2000 to 12 million viewers. (The program reairs Sunday, April 4 on The Coral Ridge Hour, Dr. Kennedys weekly television program. For local listings or to watch online, go to www.coralridgehour.org).
Dr. Kennedy asks Jennings in his Truths That Transform interview about the theologically imbalanced mix of experts in Search for Jesus and whether more of the same may be expected in the upcoming special, Jesus and Paul.
Jennings acknowledged that he and his producers learned a tremendous amount from the experience of making Search for Jesus and the evangelical backlash against it, but also claimed that he, as a journalist, is looking for as many opinions and ideas
in all this regard as I can.
I just heard the audio for this interview right before Easter...Wonder if Peter will find what he is searching for
His voice sounded horrible on his newscast tonight and he looks like he's lost a lot of weight. Looks really bad.
"...[Jennings] also claimed that he, as a journalist, is looking for as many opinions and ideas
in all this regard as I can.
I'll bet he will be shortly.
Well .. that has been my prayer ever since I heard the news. Dr. Kennedy is a wonderful, GODly man - I'll be praying for Dr. Kennedy to speak just the right words to pierce Peter's heart.
me too cyberant.
Dr. Kennedy is sowing seeds. Now it's in the court of the Holy Spirit and the will of Peter to sprout and grow.
Mr. Jennings has certainly shoveled alot of manure in his time, so something should grow pretty well.
He's recovering from accidentially telling the truth in a broadcast last week. It causes a severe allergic reaction. Thank God he's managed to avoid doing that for decades.
Right on! I don't watch any of the big Media News anymore, I'm a FOX now but I wouldn't wish cancer on my worst enemy. Maybe this will help Peter see the LIGHT.
I agree and wish him well - but - if he goes, I'll be callous enough to be glad he's gone. He's the third strike for the MSM and the-e-e-y're out!
I can't stand Peter Jennings as a news broadcaster, but my heart goes out to him in his battle against cancer.
Absolutely. A close friend of mine lost her father last year to lung cancer, he was in his mid-50's. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I've been regularly enraged by Jennings over the years, but confusing political disagreement with the value of life is something best left to DU.
Cigarette smoking just ain't worth it. It's one deadly habit.
Prayers up for Mr. Jennings.
As will I.
Yep! Words are seeds which are full of power.
GOD said .. and it was.
