Can I just pretend to be a Mexican and sneak across? It would be a lot less trouble than going through the hassle of getting a passport and standing in line.

Will somebody who knows about passports please clue me in. When I leave Panama, I must always show a passport. When I enter the U.S.A., I again have to show my American passport. What has changed? Where have I been so out of touch?
