I did not know that guns were banned in 1926 by the Weimar Republic, thanks. I'll be checking out your book. It's off topic for this thread, but here is an accurate quote,(as opposed to the one attributed to Hitler) by Himmler:

"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA - ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the State." -–Heinrich Himmler

I don't know about that, but I do know that one of the supposed "laws" passed by the Germans against Jewish firearms ownership that goes around the web is bogus. We have a specialist in German history on our staff---no friend of the Nazis---and he always laughs at these claims because the Weimar Republic was trying to control the rival parties who were literally battling it out in the streets. I have seen the actual 1926 legislation, but can't remember where I saw it.
