I agree about the vitrolic rants against POTUS. Since Bush is not running for re-election - I think he just refused to play their little power games.
Jimmy had it coming! The President gave him every opportunity to act like a human being and Jimmy chose to act like a jerk.
BINGO: There was a time, truly, when the role of ex-president was to be a senior statesman, above the fray. Ever since the voters so decisively rejected Carter and his wildly incompetent administration he's been nursing a grudge and engaging in political cheap shots against his Republican successors. He would never have been president except for Watergate.
