Do NOT do it now...Think late July or Aug is the best time....You father was trimming back the iris....It's necessary for their roots to grow (Rhizomes) and for them to expand....The blooms form on the new growth.....A weed eater or hand trimmer does the same things.

Dang--and all those years I accused my poor Dad of being a reckless lawn mower....

He is prolly up in heaven right now laughing at me watching those Iris NOT bloom these last few years!!!!
