Yep, the first time I heard John Cornyn I thought "Now, THIS is a Republican who should run in 2008!" RUN, JOHN, RUN!
To: GianniV
Yeh.
Remember that fiasco all-nighter they held last spring? Why not force the Dems into real filibusters, if they want to filibuster?
Frist is too neutralized, even though one of the reporters said Frist said he had 53 solid votes. For him to act, however, would mean he might have to actually do something. Shudder....chills...
Recount:
Democrats begin filibuster against Estrada - Feb. 13, 2003
Spring 2003, Frist threatens Dems about Judicial filibustering. Filibusters continue.
Judicial nominee Estrada withdraws his name - Sep. 4, 2003
[Who could blame him?]
Spring 2004, Frist threatens Dems about Judicial filibustering. Filibusters continue.
Spring 2005, Frist threatens Dems about Judicial filibustering. Filibusters continue.
Final count was what? 20 filibustered?
[See a pattern? Frist is good about threatening, lax on any actions. I'm betting that Frist will defer doing anything until after the 06 elections; then he will defer to the 08.]

This is our guy in 08.
I doubt the voters would go for another Texan so soon. Or even another Bush (as in Jeb). People can be fickle.

You yankees ready for another Texan? ;-)My guy is probably going to be Governor Sanford (or, god willing if he runs, Mike Pence).
I usually prefer governors, but I would still be quite happy with another texan in the white house.

By that time, folks will well be over the most blatant conventional wisdom type of stuff.
Cornyn would hear alot about texas early, then folks would get bored, even the dems and media would get bored of it, and it would become moot and irrelevent.

Ah, it's just C-SPAN up to their usual tricks. Back in the 2000 campaign they would say we were going to see Governor Bush and every darn time we would get Lieberman followed by Gore, and then someone like Jesse Jackson. They would run then Governor Bush at 1AM.
Cornyn must be pretty powerful if he is already getting this treatment. HA!
By the way, did you see the ad where Mrs. Bradley, the Senator's wife (native German former Pan Am stewardess and now comparative lit professor) is going to be interviewed by Hadassah Lieberman? That should be one swell interview...Mrs. Bradley has the warmth of a snake and Hadassah is a dumb as a box of rocks. Must see TV!!

Not sure about Cronyn but they did have a 35 minute segment on about Judicial filibuters featuring the coalition that is pushing the congress to use the 'Constitutional option' It featured a maybe 10 or so members from the various groups in a mini news conference and Q&A with the press... very good I thought and they pretty well assumed/felt that Sen. Frist has at least 53 votes to enact the rule change.. They were/are pushing for it fairly rapidly before a Supreme Court vacancy is announced...
Can't remember all the participants but some included: David Keene, Kay Daly, Gary Bauer, Grover Norquist, one from a Catholic group, and several others I can't recall off the top now.

Terri is dead. CFR was passed signed and vetted. Elian was returned to Daddy Castro. The borders are open except to the law-abiding. The executive, the judicial and the legislative turn the law to murder the innocent and protect the criminal and violent.
Ten billion stemwinders later. Terri is still murdered.

Sunday, I believe. Really, let's try to remember to watch. I bet it will be hilarious!
To: Miss Marple; Alas Babylon!
That will be great---Sunday TV is boring anyway, so it has nowhere to go but UP!
Lets ping to the Sunday talk show thread afterwards---I'm sure Alas Babylon won't mind...lol

I just have to say this---on C-span 2 right now there is some kind of hearing about the London elections coming up--
I don't have the sound on--no matter--the guy on the screen looks just like "The Beaver" from Leave it to Beaver--I had to look twice at what channel it was on---hilarious
OOPS--the grown-up Beaver, Jerry Mathers, as the Beaver.

"I'm in Bham Al, and saw the same commercial, the last few days, repeatly.
I thought, What??? "You aren't a Republican...get off my TV"!!!"
I'm south of KCMO and saw it one time today, course have not been watching the tube much lately, trying to put some garden out.
I thought the exact same thing, this was no republican, turned it off before I thought to see who sponsored the ad.

I saw part of his speech today. Very soft-spoken, calm demeanor, and very nice-looking man. His speech was very impressive.
