I can't believe that Ireland will not officially mourn the death of the pope.
Wow.

Just when you think you've seen it all. I wasn't surprised to hear of the uproar from French citizens over the lowering of their flag but never expected this from Ireland.

Okay, I am officially confused---
I really don't get it--surely it isn't because of the "war" between Catholics and Protestants---even Prince Charles is going to the funeral---
I would think the Prime Minister would do it out of respect for the "leader of sovereign Vatican City", if nothing else.!

The old Catholic Ireland is dead.

I'm sure the Irish Protestants aren't too keen on Catholics, any Catholics...
I don't get out much and I have never heard of a Catholic Pope trying to reign in the Catholics in Ireland to try to stop the conflict...What's up with that???

Bertie Ahearn is an anti-Catholic adulterer who is an evil sell out.

Real Catholics in Ireland will mourn the Pope, but don't expect it from the current government which was forged in Hell.

Bertie Ahearn is an anti-Catholic adulterer who is an evil sell out. Interesting as he's accepted the invitation to attend the funeral. Hopefully both he and X42 will share the same pew.

That's a, umm, inflammatory comment.

If I lived in Ireland I would willfully not go to work on Friday and I'm not even Roman Catholic anymore.
How insulting this is to all the good people in Ireland.

Says more about him/them than it does the Pope.

May the earth open up....
Bertie Ahearn is the most opportunistic politician......... He has tried again and again to sell out Ireland to the EU. I despise his leadership of the nation, his betrayal of the Irish Constitution, and his personal character.

I don't get out much and I have never heard of a Catholic Pope trying to reign in the Catholics in Ireland to try to stop the conflict...What's up with that??? He implored the people of Northern to give up violence on many occasions. He got down on his knees on the border and begged for peace. It is even reported that one of his dying wishes was peace in Ireland.
