Even worse, the chuch is owned by the Diocese, which this Bishop is in charge of. So if the church is sold for the property, he will get the money.
Also, with that low of an annual Church Budget, $40,000/year. The dioscese was probably funding the difference which was probably close to $250,000 per year.
Last but not least, a church that can't meet its budget usually doesn't send a monthly check for their diocesian assessment to the Bishop.
So closing this church is a win/win for this Bishop from the Dark Side.
