Joseph Farah is right: there are two standards of justice: one for celebrities and the movers and shakers and the other for "regular folk."

Since we all knew it, and we all know there are multiple standards of justice...what's the surprise, and why is this news?

Joseph Farah is right: there are two standards of justice: one for celebrities and the movers and shakers and the other for "regular folk."Every wonder why Martha Stewart does jail time for lying to a grand jury, but Bill Clinton does not?
And now this. Which is more deserving of jail time, Lying about a stock trade or stealing secure government documents? Just incredible!!!!

All of the real pals are disclosed even under President Bush. I wonder if the president took advice from senator Kennedy on how the thief should be treated.

I am not sure that the answer is as simple as there are two standards. There could well be something more sinister here such as what the documents would reveal and what else Berger knew and would reveal publicly.

That's because you are able to discern injustice. Hang on to your hat, because both justice and mercy seem to have fled the country.....
To: Theodore R.
"....the Bush Justice Department has just affirmed it is complicit in them."It's the "new tone" in Washington, don't ya know?
This sounds a lot like the whimpy "kinder, gentler" theme we heard 15 years ago.
Genetic link?
To: Theodore R.
The sentence is essentially nothing, for a crime that should have seen many years in jail.
However, he was forced to admit publicly that he did it with intent. That has high legal significance, and could mean he is cooperating with investigators.
The long delay in what seems an open and shut case could be because they are following up leads provided by Berger, etc. (I know, I know... Pigs still can't fly...)
We can hope, anyway. The alternative is that another member of the Clinton crime family just skated.

I read in the paper a few days ago that Bergers security clearance would be suspended for 3 years.
3 Years? How about FOREVER?!

Are we really at war? Are we really concerned about national security in this country? The "permanent government" always protects its own.

How is this different than Watergate?
To: Theodore R.
Equal protection? You try to do what Berger did. And at least they could have gotten something in return for the plea. Like for whose benefit the documents were being stolen, when was the order given, who was involved in the conspiracy and who knew about it.
To: eyespysomething
In THIS case, the theft was CODE level documents from the National Archives that
were necessary to find out WHY Berger set up America for attack.
Perhaps the goal is to have America attacked again.
Perhaps the goal is to encourage theft of CODE LEVEL documents.
Perhaps the goal is that morality just isn't ground in the dirt low enough yet.
Perhaps those at the top work with, for, or on behalf of, directly or indirectly, al Qaeda.

Berger purloined all draft revisions of a key critique of the government's response

which reveal the thinking and agendas of the
