I've noticed that a lot of people only care about the cases that supply graphic intimate details of the victims. I put up a post last night about a man who was starved and dehydrated to death. There was enough information to make that determination, but there were no photos of him on his death bed. No family members who were against killing him. His brain damage was the result of alcohol poisoning and/or a bar fight, so there's not much compassion there. I guess it takes most people weeks or even months of getting to know a person intimately before they care. And it has to be a likable person. If they don't know the person, or they don't particularly like the person, it's no big deal.

I went to your thread about the St. Cloud man. I think that the difference is that Terri was treated badly for 15 years and she had a will to live in spite of not getting the rehab she deserved. Fifteen years of evidence vs. an event that lasted a couple of weeks. I think that's the difference. It's still wrong either way. America is killing it's own people by starvation. Who voted on that? I didn't.

I don't think it's because people lack compassion, I think it's because the man already died, and there's nothing we can do about it, except pray for his soul, which is also important.

There are probably thousands of cases where patients are starved to death. Congress needs to pass some kind of law against dehydrating/starving to death patients who can't speak for themselves.

We need to call our reps and ask them to sponsor, or co-spoonsor such a bill.
