Is it not feasible that we're talking about space ships and extraterrestrials when we discuss Rapture?
I don't really care, so long as they're not here for dinner...

"You don't believe in prophecy?" How does the judgement happen, logistically speaking? Will my local parish rat me out that I don't go to mass every week?
To: paltz
I think I'll stick with the Word of God.

You mean you didn't notice?

Never say never. This is not a lone prophecy.

The Incas predicted the end of the earth on Dec. 23, 2012.They were also right about the Red Sox winning the World Series in 2004.

If you read a prediction from Nostradamus that doesnt seem to match any event, you can say well, it must not have happened yet. You cant do that with this prophesy, because the succession of popes since 1139 (or 1590) is a known quantity. This allows more interesting analysis, as you can score how well (or badly) each pope was predicted.

No, the Mayas did. There have always been End Of The World Prophecies. Its fitting in this new millenium we wonder whether we will see the next thousand years? Whether they come true depends on what we do. They become self-fulfilling only if we are so fatalistic to think we can't alter destiny.

According to his biographer St. Bernard of Clairvaux, in his book "Life of Saint Malachy," the saint was known to have the gift of prophesy and had even predicted the exact day and hour of his own death. JPII was said to also have told others that he knew the day of his owh death. I was praying that he would not die on April 1st.
