More than it was worth. Splitting off Land Rover and selling it to Ford was the correct thing to do. The automotive operation has been a rotting corpse for decades.

Her officials have gone to China for last-ditch talks with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp on a £1bn investment in MG Rover.

Buying a company for £10 and selling it for a Billion sounds like an excellent return on investment over 5 years to me.
