".. In 2003, his own efforts drew national attention after he invited members of a group called Ranch Rescue to help him patrol his property, about six miles from Hebbronville off State Highway 16. A Salvadoran man and his wife claimed that the volunteers detained them unlawfully, threatened them and accosted them. Immigrant advocates sued Ranch Rescue, along with Mr. Sutton and his wife, Betty.

The parties settled the lawsuit, which Mr. Sutton saw as a vindication, but he said the experience left him less willing to take matters into his own hands..."

I wonder what the terms of the settlement were?

President Bush calls them "vigilantes," ...

Thanks for the media-ready negative soundbite there, Jorge.

That kind of talk has William Gheen calling it "the end of America as we know it."

Americans are supporting these illegals with their tax money, if that's ok with you than keep allowing it. How dare these illegals sue Americans to add insult to injury! If thats NOT ok with you than do something, contact congress and senate.

President Bush calls them "vigilantes," but supporters say they're trying to protect America from "an invasion."

I think that's stretching it a bit.

- "It leads to actions of hate, and we cannot condone that in this country," said Marisol Perez-

No, "it" does not. The peasants crossing the borders illegally and then stealing our hard-earned money in the form of free services leads to the deterioration of our infrastructure and ultimately anger. Plus, these theives aren't loyal to the USA, so they insist on turning parts of it into Mexico. Once they turn parts of the USA into the same craphole they were trying to get out of, they'll invade the rest of the country.

When a U.S. citizen's rights are secondary to an illegal alien/criminal rights we have lost the country.

No, from what I have observed it is anti-ILLEGAL-immigrant.

President Bush calls them "vigilantes," but supporters say they're trying to protect America from "an invasion."

America has always been a nation of immigrants. Thomas Jefferson emphasized this basic part of the American heritage, taking note of "the natural right which all men have of relinquishing the country in which birth or other accident may have thrown them, and seeking subsistence and happiness wheresoever they may be able, and hope to find them."

Most studies show that immigrants actually lead to an increase in the number of jobs available. Immigrants produce jobs in several ways: 1) They expand the demand for goods and services through their own consumption; 2) They bring savings with them that contribute to overall investment and productivity; 3) They are more highly entrepreneurial than native-born Americans and create jobs through the businesses they start; 4) They fill gaps in the low and high ends of the labor markets, producing subsidiary jobs for American workers; 5) Low-wage immigrants may enable threatened American businesses to survive competition from low-wage businesses abroad; and 6) They contribute to increased economic efficiencies through economies of scale.

A policy of open immigration will advance the economic well-being of all Americans. All major recent studies of immigrants indicate that they have a high labor force participation, are entrepreneurial, and tend to have specialized skills that allow them to enter under-served markets.

It appears to me the boys in the Minuteman Project are simply playing grown-up cowboys and Indians.

Another idiotic reconquista that is unable to realize the difference between legal and illegal immigrants. And she works for a "legal defense" group. How can they ever win any case without such basic understanding of legal distinctions. Oh that's right they're completely driven by the mexican agenda and therefore seek to mislead America.

Americans doing what law enforcement won't?

Seriously, the average BP agent is doing a heroic job on the borders.

The problem is that they aren't being given the resources to actually gain 'operational control' of the border, whatever that means...

Immigrant Illegal alien advocates sued Ranch Rescue, along with Mr. Sutton and his wife, Betty.

Immigrant Illegal alien advocates say they oppose civilian efforts to keep undocumented workers out of the country.

...Marisol Perez, a spokeswoman for the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund in San Antonio. "It's obvious there's a very anti-immigrant illegal alien climate right now."

"Perhaps one half of our immigrant population is undocumented comprised of illegal aliens,

At least 10 million illegal immigrants aliens are in the U.S. now, "and that'll double in five years," said Mr. Gheen,

"We've had thousands of illegal aliens come over the border and go through this ranch. We were broken into less than a month ago for the umpteenth time," he said.

"Some people say we're losing the state. I'm pretty convinced we've already lost it."

I used to have a hunting lease between Hebronville and Laredo. The number of illegals coming through those ranches down there was astounding.

And sure they were looking for work, but a lot of them were'nt adverse to taking anything that wasn't guarded. I mean that literally, because the little cabin we used was continually broken into and looted of anything that wasn't too heavy to carry.

What a shame. This rancher has to tolerate Mexican trespassers. What happens to me if I go onto George Bush's Texas ranch to see the wildlife? Will I be asked to leave or else I'll be arrested for trespassing?

Apparently, MALDEF cannot even educate themselve on the distinction between legal immigrants and illegal aliens. Or, maybe they don't care about that distinction any more than numerous other AZTLAN, Reconquista, La Raza types. They are all part of the same Pro-Hispanic, Anti-"Gringo" agenda.
