I thought the purpose of clocks was to accurately indicate the time,12 occuring well before noon is silly.
Daylight savings time was introduced by the same pack of fools that approved the other wonderful idea,Prohibition! Which shows they can be consistently stupid. I suppose this was another benefit of direct election of U.S.Senators Once 12 and noon meant the same thing.
Why not leave the clocks in agreement with solar time but have summer and winter business hours ?
Hallelujah. Summer and winter business hours. Or perhaps put clocks on GMT and adjust your life accordingly. Anything is better than this idiotic clock-hacking. I seriously detest it. I'll brood about my lost hour until I get it back in October!
"What happens to all the time we save? Is there a time bank somewhere? Can we make withdrawls sometime in December?"
The same thing as what happened to the Social Security "Trust Fund" -- never existed.
When you jump this hurtle PAWLEEESE convey it to me! : )
"What are atomic clocks? They are radio controlled clocks that tune into the radio signal emitted by the U.S. AtomicClock located in Fort Collins, Colorado. They reset themselves daily to the exact hour, minute, and second and automatically change themselves for Daylight Savings Time. They are always accurate to the second and are easy to use. Simply put in the batteries, set your time zone and let the clock do the rest!"

IF the clock gets a good signal. The ones in my father-in-law's building certainly don't run accurate to the second. They don't even agree with each other!
I've had an "atomic watch" (Casio MTG-900) for about six-months and I love it. I use it to set all my other clocks. Every night it re-syncs with NIST. The re-sync works best within 1000km (600mi) of Fort Collins, Colorado. I don't even need to change batteries since it is solar powered.
