Vigil masses on Saturday after sunset satisfy the Sunday obligation for the same reason that masses after sunset on Sunday satisfy the Sunday obligation: Because the Church says so.

McCarrick is a great speaker. I was very moved.

Does anyone here know how to post embedded music? Or a link that is allowed? A beautiful hymn - Amazing Grace, bagpipes, or whatever you feel is appropriate, would be so nice to listen to while reading here.

Gregorian Chant would be most appropriate.

He used to be Archbishop of my diocese.... My mom is a principle of a Catholic grammar school so she used to meet with him quite a bit.... She had so many great things to say about the man....

He is able to speak very effectively.
(That is in part why he is dangerous).

I don't know the answer to your question, but I've been listening to Mozart's Requiem off and on all day...

SING GLORY TO GODI made a deal with God NOT to sing His praises because my voice is so awful and I Love him too much to do that to Him.

I hope the next Pope is half as wonderful as Karol Wojtyla.I just hope he's not an unworthy sort, for example a vain publicity fiend who picked out his papal name thirty years ago and has been jockeying for the position every day since.
Got that off my chest!

As a convert to the Catholic faith, it surprises me to say that it is hard for me to describe the depths of the feelings I have for this man. I have never met him, yet I feel a kinship with his spirit, and admiration for his faith and devotion to his God and the Lord's Church. He has led by example and has borne the weight of the world on his shoulders, perhaps more than any other Pope. Just think of the world-changing events that have occurred during his long tenure as Pope. And he has been there through it all, lending moral leadership with clarity and conviction that is far too rare in world leaders today. He has stood firmly for his Lord against those who would weaken and dilute the message of Salvation. The reward of heaven is now his, and the words of the Lord himself will surely be heard by John Paul: "Well done, good and faithful servant."

I am very sad over the loss of Pope John Paul 11. I felt a special connection to him as he was Polish and bore my first name, [C] Karol. I too. I feel like lost a grandfather, in a way.
My great-grandparents came from Krakow (their names were "Delatuski").
I remember when John Paul II was named Pope, my grandmother was so thrilled, she gleamed, "finally we have a Polack as a Pope!" :)

God speed and bless the soul of one of the few men who changed the world in my lifetime. As a scottish presbyrterian I have to say this man was insturmental in the downfall of the soviet empire.
What an incredible man....Now more than ever we need men of this integrity.
