Terri Schiavo Cremated Amid Family Feud

TAMPA, Fla.  Terri Schiavo's body was cremated Saturday as disagreements continued between her husband and her parents, who were unable to have their own independent expert observe her autopsy.

The cremation was carried out according to a court order issued Tuesday establishing that Michael Schiavo () had the right to make such decisions, said his lawyer, George Felos. He said plans for burying her ashes in Pennsylvania, where she grew up, had not yet been completed.

Terri Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, had wanted to bury their daughter in Pinellas County so they could visit her grave.

Terri Schiavo, 41, died Thursday after the removal of the feeding tube that had kept her alive since 1990, when she suffered brain damage that court-appointed doctors determined had placed her in a persistent vegetative state (). Her parents had fought in court to keep her alive, disputing the doctors' opinions and saying there was hope of improvement.

An autopsy is done prior to cremation at the discretion of the ME or if a criminal investigation is anticipated. It is not required. So if "the fix was in" as some think, the ME could have decided not to do an autopsy.

the Schindler's previous lawyers had the bone scan all along. Lawyer that filed in desparation [had nothing else] found it going through THEIR papers. Just because they did nothing with it until 2002 [after they had lost all other appeals on the merits], that makes it a 'conspiracy'? The day after Terri died, I listened to Sean Hannity interview Patricia Anderson, Schindler's attorney in 2002. She is a walking encyclopedia of the Terri legal saga. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from her and hope she writes a book. After all, no one can hurt Terri anymore and Michael has lost his leverage over the Schindlers.

When asked, Ms Anderson stated that although the bone scan was done in 1991, the Schindlers did NOT know about the bone fracture trauma it displayed until 2002.

Remember that early in Terri's medical history, as part of the Schindlers' willingness to make Michael Terri's sole guardian ...circa 1991-93?... an agreement which they believed (probably based on informal advice of Michael's employer, a restaurant owner who was an attorney) to be in Terri's best interest to receive a sizable malpractice financial settlement to cover life care...

As part of that early, fatal decision by the Schindlers, Michael was given the sole right NOT to release any of Terri's medical records or information about her condition to her parents.

As an aside, I believe that they pissed off Michael - (and later, Judge Greer) by the fact that after 1993, when Michael's outlook and treatment of Terri changed after he got the malpractice money - the Schindlers refused to just let Terri go. They dug and received information surreptitiously from some of her providers who were willing to risk coming forward or simply providing them with anonymous tips, obtained and enabled the release of videos of Terri interacting with them and others, and raised protests of her mistretament from their own observations of her condition (when they were permitted by Michael to visit, also completely under his control)

O/A 1 April show, Sean Hannity asked Ms Anderson when Michael knew about what the bone scan showed, and she said she did not know. But the Schindlers did NOT know until 2002.

That was why the parents asked only in 2002 for a new judicial review in light of possible abuse by Terri's guardian that led to the state she was in...this of course would have called into question (yet again, after repeated attempts since mid 1993) Michael's motives and suitability as Terri's sole guardian.

Judge Greer ruled against them and stated that bone trauma evidence was irrelevant to the guardian decision....no de novo ... I have not seen that Judge Greer admonished the Schindlers for not coming forward sooner with this information. Did he do so? If they really had it, he would have commented thusly. He has in other rulings.

BTW- Michael's defense, if it becomes necessary, is going to be that Terri's bone fractures were caused by PT, which she would have had to have received between 1990-1991. But do you know WHY the bone scan on Terri was done in 1991? MsAnderson stated that the bone scan was ordered in 1991 because when Terri started to receive physical therapy, she often complained "STOP" or "NO" when the therapists tried to touch her (not bad for a vegetable, eh). The PT team orderd the bone scan to try and determine the source of her pain.

The physician who reviewed the bone fractures could tell from the stage of healing in the 1991 scan, that the fractures had occurred in the previous 12-18 months- at about the same time as Terri's collapse.

So sorry to prick your bubble, but when I listen to the attorney herself answer these questions directly, I tend to believe her. I'm sure there is a transcript of her interview if anyone wants to go find it for themselves. If she is perjuring herself and slandering Judge Greer and Michael, then she will be charged and investigated by the FL Bar Association- right?

And as for Sean Hannity- he is the only journlaist asking real questions directly to the principals. The rest of the LSM pack is simply re-packaging and regurgitating the same lexis/nexis file drivel that's been floated for 15 years without any serious investigation. Try listening to his talk show yourself. I'm sure he'd love to talk to you

I definitely don't have an eating disorder, but a little over a year ago I was suffering from a chronic sinus infection. They had me on three different types of antibiotics over a 3 month period in order to get rid of it. I ended up in the emergency room one morning because I was waking up in the middle of the night with the cold sweats. I also had a tightness in my chest and felt short of breath. I never did find out whether it was a reaction to the medication or what it was. Hospital staff did blood work and it was discovered that my potassium level was low. I found that very strange since I take a potassium pill every day, plus during this time I was drinking tomato juice and eating bananas. They made me drink two glasses of a potassium laced liquid before they would let me go home.

Well, he has been called a controlling person...besides being spiteful. If Terri did indeed have an eating disorder, I believe that Michael may have been at the bottom of it. Since he is so controlling, it's quite possible that he hounded her relentlessly about her weight.

Oh, that was just so sad when I first heard it today. And then I thought, perhaps, perfect timing (if it was enevitable that MS was going to have it done, and could not be stopped from such a hurtful, insensitive act).

Pope JP,II, I am sure, knew somehow. I do believe there is a job they will be doing together from Heaven. Their deaths - and the sharp contrast of the manner - will serve to enlighten many.

Additionally, I am sure her family found some comfort that the cremation happened at a time when all the angels and pure souls of heaven were at attention. I am sure they rang out together, in John Paul's words: "Be not afraid," and the Schlinder family heard them in their hearts and were granted peace. IMHO, there is a symbolism to it that we can think of it as a good time.

Greer sealed the DCF requests. But I think autopsy records, not photos, are public records in Florida.

Michael appears to have gotten her an STD, she then wanted a divorce,
in response he beat her without mercy, strangled her, broke her spine
and then refused to give her CPR or call 911.

It took 'judge' Greer and the Scientologist to murder her for him. That cost him quite a bit.

Neglect and abuse complaints is that Michael Schiavo:

* Has not allowed therapy or rehabilitation since late 1992.
* Has prevented swallowing tests or swallowing therapy since 1993.
* Ordered caretakers not to clean Terri's teeth since 1995, resulting in removal of five teeth in April 2004.
* Placed Terri in hospice in 2000, despite the fact she is not terminally ill.
* Refuses to allow Terri to leave her room. She has not been outside since 2000.
* Ordered doctors not to treat Terri when she had a life threatening infection in 1993 and 1995.

I have been wondering about the high glucose. All I can figure out is the paramedics started an IV of glucose.
I am not a doctor, nor do I play one on the internet.

But one doctor who was willing to speak out, suggested that if Terri had been injected with insulin before or during her collapse, the medics who responded would have found her glucose level to be virtually nonexistent and they would have given her glucose enroute to the ER accounting for her very high glucose reading on admission.

This in retrospect is strikingly similar to what Terri's nurses reported after several of Michael's visits to the nursing home, where they suspected he was injecting Terri with insulin during his closed door visits.

I have been trying to read about insulin poisoning and it seems possible to this layman that a side effect of insulin given to people without diabetes, is that it causes abnormally low potassium (hypokatemia)- it draws the potassium into cells or something. Maybe a medical person will read this and comment.

One case of insulin poisoning I read about the murderer experimented over a period of time by injecting his victims with various doses until he determined what level would cause the final effect he sought- unconciousness, helpessness, finally irreversible coma. I understood it is a VERY rare crime and the symptoms would mimic many other problems if not suspected.

Mikey only thinks he won. Her family requested a Catholic mass for her before the cremation. Mikey denied that request.....but the Vatican didn't. Terri was included in the mass said for Pope John Paul yesterday.

What does that mean?
