WE do have the right to know, Greer is re-creating law or at least how the laws on the books can be used to dispose of those people like Terri Schiavo by those people like Michael Schiavo, regardless of the wishes of her own flesh and blood and family.
Judge Greer made Terri Schiavo the sole property of her husband even though he had abandoned her to a death house and found a new wife to give him a family.
Why should we have the right to know, because it could happen to any of us as well.
I dont have the right to know any more than you do. If you dont want this happening to you, them make sure it doesnt. Talk to your family and be sure the person who has the legal authority to pull the plug understands precisely what you wishes are. Otherwise, the state will make the decision. Not your parents, not your friends, the state.
It doesnt matter to the state whether or not the marraige was a good one. It doesnt matter that her parents had different thoughts than the husband. The state was following the rules set forth in the state, by the state.
I feel horribly for her and her parents. But unfortunately, they did not have a say. Because thats the way the state felt it was appropriate.
When I read the court documents-not the interperetation of a left or right wing view of them--but the real documents, I get a very different view. They paint a different view of Michael, of the money, and of the parents.
You and I may disagree, but we should all learn from this and take appropriate measures to ensure it doesnt happen to US. I dont trust the state to do anything for me. And I would be G-damned if anyone other than those I specify to take care of me have any business at all picking over my records or my bones.
Greer did no such thing. He ruled on the evidence presented to him and the law of the state of Florida. Those who dont like the law should beat up the legislature to change it. Those who dont like the judge to decide it should jump in their time machine and get the Schindlers lawyer to file a request for a jury trial on time.
Before you get all hyperbolic, legal decisions here only cover the state of Florida and they despite what you seem to love fearing, dont represent a change in the law.
