RED LAKE, Minn., April 2 (UPI) -- A shooting rampage at a Minnesota high school that left 10 dead apparently did not surprise numerous teens on the Indian reservation, officials say.
Federal and tribal officials say as many as 20 teenagers may have known of plans by Jeff Weise to shoot up Red Lake High School March 21, Capt. Dewayne Dow of the tribal police said.
One law officer said the FBI believes as many as four students, including Weise and Louis Jourdain, a classmate arrested Sunday, were directly involved in planning the killings, and well over a dozen others may have heard about the plot, the Washington Post said Saturday.
"There may have been as many as four of these kids who were active participants in the plot," said the official, who declined to be identified. "The question is, how many other kids had some knowledge of this or had heard about it somehow? We think there were quite a few."
The FBI will search 30 to 40 computers seized Friday from the high school computer laboratory as much of the alleged discussion and planning among Weise and his friends occurred through e-mails and instant messages.
For some reason, this reminds me of the day Custer's Blackfoot scouts didn't show up.....
Wonder how many of those "in the know" were aware that God fearing students would be targeted.
Obviously looking to put the blame on someone other than the actual killer. High school rumour mills are so removed from reality.
Is this a fact? I have not read too much about the school shooting.
Yes, look for earlier stories (~Wed 3-30-05).
Shooter asked students if they believed in God.
If they said yes, he shot them.
If they said no, he moved on.
This is the thing that really frightens me.
One kid going nuts I can at least understand but the fact that others knew it was going to happen blows my mind.
This was a terrorist attack.
There will be more.
Better disarm everyone so they will be safe!
Why?
W've taught them quite well that if someone is an intrusion into your life it's okay to kill them.
They learned it quite well.
Their parents still think their kids are 'good' kids.
And most of those parents probably believe the kids that got killed 'deserved' it.
Evil. Evil. Evil.
