According to MSNBC.

In other words, I'm not sure. ;O)

Chris Jansing did just say that (and she paused and noted it, then turned around to check the windows). She also said she hadn't heard them at the half hour during the weeks she had been there.

But I do know that at least once in the last 24 hours they DID ring on the half hour also b/c I remember it coming up when all the stations were live (I vaguely recall...haven't slept enough...that the station I was watching was showing all the folks outside standing vigil not long after the service ended...if I remember the time correctly...)...in any case, I knowthey were audible then even on TV. And several people commented in the thread that was going on then about the bells and wondering, and the only thing that seemed to be noted was that it was also half past.

So maybe there are certain hours they ring on the half hour? Or maybe, like other things, you don't always even hear them because you are so used to hearing it and so Chris hadn't noted it before and it struck her since they are watching so carefully for any signs since it's been so long since an official update?

I don't know...but she (Chris) definitely just made a point about it, and that she'd not heard them then before...and all that struck me moreso just because I was wondering why she was so struck since I was quite sure we'd had that discussion. But maybe I'm just noticing too many things after not getting enough sleep so that's why it really struck me! ha!

HTH :-)
