The medical examiner completed the autopsy of Terri Schiavo on Friday, clearing the way for the release of the body to her husband, who plans to cremate her remains and bury the ashes without telling his in-laws when or where.
Results of the autopsy may not be released for several weeks, the medical examiner's office said. Husband Michael Schiavo hopes the autopsy will settle questions about her medical condition, but experts differ on whether that will happen.
Michael Schiavo and his in-laws spent Friday planning separate funerals for the 41-year-old woman, who died Thursday - 13 days after her feeding tube was removed.
Her parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, have scheduled a funeral Mass for Tuesday in nearby Gulfport. The Mass will be preceded by a gathering for people to express their condolences.
Michael Schiavo's family has said he plans to take the cremated remains to Pennsylvania, where she grew up, but her parents want to bury her body in Florida so her parents and siblings can visit her grave.
Michael Schiavo declined to comment on the autopsy. The body is now ready for release to an unidentified mortuary designated by her husband.
Terri Schiavo had been the center of a long legal battle over whether she would have wanted to be kept alive with the feeding tube for 15 years after suffering a devastating brain injury.
David Gibbs, the Schindlers' attorney, said there have been no further discussions between Michael Schiavo and the Schindlers about their daughter's remains. The Schindlers do not plan to press the issue in court, he said.
"The court has already determined that (Michael Schiavo) will control the burial decisions," Gibbs said.
Outside the Pinellas Park hospice where Terri Schiavo lived for five years, just a few protesters returned Friday for a brief mass as city workers took down barricades used to control the crowd. Media crews from around the country packed up their gear.

I may agree with you. His irrational mood tends to sway, imho, that he has something to hide. Cremation is just burning the evidence, just in case somebody would want to do a
real autopsy. Besides, why isn't he charged with adultery when he is still married to Terri, and which is none of my business, just how much insurance policy has he on Terri?
Did Greer rule that was the case?
Shouldn't she get something for loss? Like not to be cremated. Like not to have her ashes end up where her blood family cannot ever visit?
Shouldn't Terri be given something for her ordeal and suffering? She lost her husband as much as he lost his wife when she was injured 15 years ago.
Everytime a new leaf in this story is overturned, it reveals a new level of depravity.
I wonder what the freepers who were on Michael's side(although,they would deny it)think about him now? This is outrageous!

I have no medical degree, but I'd be willing to bet that her not being allowed any food or water for almost 2 weeks had something to do with it. Just a guess.
Good heavens. Will her poor Mother and Father ever be rid of that heartless cruel man. God bless them for the hell they must be going through.
I don't think so! Terri will never have to see him again. He will not be going were she is.

I'm no longer wondering. I'm sure he didn't originally pursue it just to get at them (after all, at one point these people liked and supported one another). But he kept at it like a dog on a bone to hurt them and get at them. He refused to negotiate or consider any of the compromises they offered (for example, they offered to let him keep every dime if he'd just divorce her and let them care for her). I remember him saying as much actually.
Everybody sees this situation from their own perspective, and my vision of this is that no man who says he loved his wife could ever treat her parents the way this guy has treated the Schindlers.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU. There are still a good many Freepers who I think have some intelligence and empathy left. But they're Schiavo-supporters, and they rationalize the things he does. The excuse for why he's doing these cruel things? The Schindlers have said horrible things about him and made him that way.
So let me understand it. He fought for so long to have Terri killed because he loved her so much, so much that he'd fight the President, the Congress, the whole world if he had to. But he gleefully hurts the people SHE loved most?
He must have seen that it was DESTROYING them to watch her starve to death. Tearing at their souls to only be allowed to see her when he said. He thought she was a vegetable in no pain, right? Then why not just let them care for her? Or see her? Be with her at death? Go to the funeral? Know where she's buried?
EVERY step along the way he's shown compassion to NO one. Not to Terri. Not to the people she loved. HE DIDN'T LOVE HER.
