HANOI JANE COMES CLEAN

HANOI JANE COMES CLEAN

The former Mrs. Ted Turner, Jane Fonda, has come out with a new book. She is making the rounds doing publicity...and she has given an interview to '60 Minutes' that will air this Sunday. In it, she admits (sort of) that she was wrong to go to North Vietnam and visit an anti-aircraft gun site used to shoot down U.S. pilots. Well isn't that nice....but she's a bit late, don't you think?

Fonda says that her trip to the gun site some 33 years ago was a "betrayal" of the U.S. military, its soldiers and "the country that gave me privilege." She calls the picture of her sitting on the enemy gun barrel the largest lapse of judgment she can imagine. Really. So what about the whole decision to visit North Vietnam in the first place? She won't apologize for that. No, Hanoi Jane will only apologize for posing for pictures with enemy weaponry. She won't apologize for being photographed with American POWs, nor will she apologize for going on Radio Hanoi and being a propaganda mouthpiece for the Viet Cong.

Jane Fonda gave aid and comfort to the enemy of the United States during a time of war. We used to call that treason, and there are people sitting in prison for it. Somehow, Jane Fonda got away with it...and now she wants us all to relieve her of her guilty conscience.

I have yet to hear her denounce Vietnam's seagoing Final Solution purge of all the ethnic Chinese in the country. Not only does she denounce her own country, but she averts her eyes when her country's enemies slaughter their own people. Go break a hip, Jane.

JFnKerry will probably get an autographed copy from the first and only printing. Her book tour which will expose her to the unwashed masses should be interesting.

Okay, we on the libertarian right are willing to forgive as long as you pay a pennance--say, 11 years of community service at VA hostpitals (because that is how long the longest incarcerated POW had to endure the hospitalities of the Hanoi Hilton).

Still clueless, she should just admit that she always rooted for the communists to win because that is her belief system.

Going to a nation that's at war with your homeland and pronouncing your support so we can expect a lot of these type apologies for IRAQ in 30 years?

Referring to oneself in the third person? Norm finds that pretentious.

There is no guilt.

Ever hear a kid say "I'm sorry" just to avoid punishment?

She rode the dragon of anti-war activism when it was risk-free. Now it isn't.

I don't think it'll take that long. Never has a group been shown to be so explicitly wrong about events so quickly. Inevitably some of the DU type thinkers will try very hard to revise history just as many communist apologists endlessly attempt to rewrite the bloody history of communism.

Its just another manifestation of the let's pretend approach on life so common among the boomer generation of wannabe hippie leftists.

While I know about Janes treason I'm a bit too young to know how popular she was within this time period. Was she an enormous Hollywood star at this time? If you were to compare her with one of todays hammerheads from Hollywood who would she compare her with? Would this be akin to say a Julia Roberts going to Iraq for a group hug with the terrorists or some B list actress?
( I'm only using Julia as an example, I have no idea her politics. She is a big box office draw - my only reason for using her)

I had a friend who was in the Marines and in Nam.. he was killed in 1988 in a plane crash....he hated her with a passion, like all of use do....He once told me "I would like to slit her throat and then "F" her dead body just to piss off her soul" ..
I love that and still do!!

She was having threesomes with her husband.... apparently not.

She was having sex with Ted, and Ted's ego. Must have felt like a threesome, at least...
