Thankfully YOUR not in a position with lives at stake, one simply does what he has to do to prevent a needless death and take it up in court later. He is the governor, what could he get, a slap on the wrist censure for contempt? HA! Extralegal action is called for in certain situations; such as the civil disobedience of the civil rights era. These judges have no power over the executive with our system of three coequal branches, and they certainly cant enforce court orders without the consent of the executive, which controls enforcement personnel. Moral obligations trump legal obligations, or does that occur to "by the book" weasels ?

It's all about polls and the next election isn't it. If that's all politics is about then it isn't really worth the time.

"A private matter?" Gee, where have we heard that one before? The Left told us Bill Clinton's having sex on the job was no one else's business. And that focusing on Clinton's breaking his oath of office and suborning the rule of law would hurt the GOP. That was in 1998. Fast forward seven years and we're now told by the Left the state-sanctioned murder of Terri Schiavo is no one else's business. And that focusing on judicial tyranny and the corrupt fruits of judicial activism will hurt the GOP. The more things change, the more they remain the same. Its "a private matter."

This issue has caused the most hypocrisy I've ever seen on FR.

You are absolutely right.

When you find yourself on the same side as known liars and media whores such as Jesse Jackson and Ralph Nader, you need to check you premises!

Tossing the Constitution and giving the government over to the Democrats would be a sad legacy.

What would Nathan Hale say?

Why even bother with that stuff -- after all, they believe she was in a PVS, so using their logic, she wouldn't have noticed the items in the first place!

I had my father buried in his red Georgia Bulldog jacket.

I don't think he noticed, but it seemed the right thing to do.

Michael has been under constant assault by this propaganda machine and that has affected all his actions regarding Terri. He was under no obligation to allow yet another theatrical display by ANYONE.

He does not have to ask the Court's permission to make funeral arrangements. If he went to court it was as a pre-emptive strike against the Parents to prevent them from creating more disturbances.

I am not a "supporter" of Michael Schiavo merely some not willing to allow him to be slandered and libeled by liars. To allow that discredits FR.

Schiavo is under no obligation to these people they have destroyed any obligation he had to them and is behaving far more civilly than their supporters here.

It is not making a "big deal" by mentioning something rather casually. You making a big deal out of these simple actions show how far gone you are. These petty quibbles remain me of RAT criticism of Bush.

Yes, they may be "cutting off their nose to spite their face," but it may happen. This is a particularly dangerous possibility, as it appears Terri Schiavo will be treated as a martyr.

Depends primarily on what happens with judicial appointments and the whole "nuclear option". The Senate Republicans have to sh*t or get off the pot by the '08 election cycle at the very latest. If they don't, especially when they have the majority, the evangelicals may well believe, and with some justification, that they were strung along by the GOP.

Thanks for your post. Next time I hear one of the pro-Michael Schiavo posters complain about the lack of civility on FR regarding this issue, I think I'll point them to your comments on this thread, so they can see that the lack of civility is not limited to one side.

It's a bit hypocritical, to say the least, to listen to you say "how far gone" I supposedly am, and how my comments remind you of "RAT criticism of Bush," in the very same post where you're whining about the lack of civility by the Schindler supporters! And by the way, throwing around words like "cabal" and "jihad" about the Schindlers isn't something Miss Manners would approve of, either.

In Honor of Terri Schiavo.

Please let load -- it's 11 mb.

Have headphones or sound on.

You've got it exactly right. Everyone on this thread who thinks the GOP hurt themselves should go check the Zogby Poll -- which, unlike ABC News, asked accurate questions.

How so? If they go by the world for their results in decisions, then we would have no abortion since only a few countries have legalized it.

Admittedly, judges do seem to be a bit selective in their definition of 'the world'.
