I am pro life, but not in the way you seem to want to define pro life. I'm not up to snuff as defined by the "pro life" community either. In their terms I'm wrong by about 3 months. It's not that I'm not against abortion in the first three months, so much as I know that some desperate & determined women are going to abort & sending them to the underground isn't saving anyone. Making it criminal makes me uneasy. The pro abort crowd isn't too happy with me either, cuz I firmly believe that anyone considering it needs to be given unfiltered truth.

I understand why you think I sound like GOP, cuz the last Democrat I voted for was Carter. I voted for him & then I grew up. :o) Blame my radicalism on the school of hard knocks. The GOP is far too accommodating for my taste, which is my reason for never joining the party.

Back to the issue at hand. I'd toss out using any kind of statistic here, though it seemed to me that you wanted to rub my nose in it. The 18,000 is IMO, arrived through unprovable methods. Besides, as I said, lack of insurance does not kill anyone. I have no idea if I'd even be included in the uninsured statistic, so I question using it too. By normal income models, I haven't had any for a couple of years, so I kind of fall off of any kind of statistical maps. I also doubt your 1% of insurance cost number, as it doesn't take into account the cost of "defensive" medical care.

A big chunk of insurance premiums are created by cost shifting. Third party pay has added more to the cost. I've been on the paying for other people end of it, so have seen how well it has beaten inflation. Canadian drug "costs" are shifted on to Americans, which is something that makes it more difficult on those who have to reach into their own pockets to pay for care.

Did not mean to rub it in, sorry. Bottom line is while you are debating points that are not relevant, will simply ask, do you think that because so many do not have coverage, that some may die because of it? Even one?

If so, then it is one too many i would hope you would agree. A culture of life says one death is one too many.
