I just received this email regarding a "protest" scheduled for tomorrow, April 1. A few thoughts: KBR has held open house recruiting events at the location listed below for months, yet these maggot-intested types are just now catching on to this fact.
Anyways, I just want to be left alone tomorrow so I can, you know, get to work and do my job. I know some of you have extensive FReep experience, so any pointers on how to best avoid dealing with these freaks-- notifying security should I spy them doing something suspicious, etc.--would be appreciated.
Thoughts and comments are welcome. Thanks!
"TO: All Houston-area Halliburton employees
SUBJECT: Potential demonstration on April 1
The Corporate Security Department has been notified of a potential demonstration (counter-recruitment action) to be conducted tomorrow, Friday April 1, at 4100 Clinton Drive. The demonstration is being planned for 8-9:30 a.m. and again from noon-1:30 p.m.
The planned demonstrations by the Houston Global Awareness Collective will specifically target the KBR facility on Clinton Drive. However, we should be alert to the potential for spontaneous demonstrations to take place at our other Houston locations.
We anticipate that the demonstration will be peaceful. Nevertheless, we have worked closely with the Houston Police Department to ensure that adequate safeguards are in place to provide for a safe work environment. The police will have a presence of both uniformed officers and plain-clothed detectives.
At the demonstration sites, you may anticipate that local television media will cover the demonstration, and there may be some traffic delay.
While we do not expect any problems, here are some suggestions should you encounter demonstrators at access points:
-- Do not engage the demonstrators in discussion
-- Ensure that you have your Halliburton- or KBR-issued identification, and display it to the building guard for entry
-- Employees are required to wear issued identification while on Halliburton or KBR property
-- Remove your identification badge when leaving the building
-- Notify building security of suspicious individuals in the building not wearing proper identification
-- In driving near a demonstration area, roll up your vehicle windows and lock your vehicle doors
-- Drive slowly and cautiously
-- If your access/egress to the building or parking garage is blocked, come back later. Do not attempt to force entry or confront demonstrators, and notify your supervisor.
