SUGAR LAND, Texas, March 31 /U.S. Newswire/ -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-Texas) today released the following statement mourning the passing of Terri Schiavo:
"Mrs. Schiavo's death is a moral poverty and a legal tragedy. This loss happened because our legal system did not protect the people who need protection most, and that will change. The time will come for the men responsible for this to answer for their behavior, but not today. Today we grieve, we pray, and we hope to God this fate never befalls another. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Schindlers and with Terri Schiavo's friends in this time of deep sorrow."
well said
He said it right. Not as diplomatic as Pres Bush.
Tom Delay is a good man in my book
Thanks for posting this.
Why didn't congress specify disabled-person protection instead of just giving it back to the courts? This looked a lot like the trial of Jesus.
This reminds me of Bush saying about the terrorists after 9/11--'They are going to hear from us.'
Good statement.
Good, Mr. Delay.
You will be held to your word.
Of course some will say Delay should start smashing heads right now. However, Delay knows doing so just out of emotion is not the best course of action. He will act when the time is right now he is not a man who forgets.
Where was he Monday? Where was he last weekend? Where has the whole republican party been for a week? They have words - that's all.
What Delay said needed to be said. I'm glad someone in leadership said it. But now we need more than words. We need to push the button on the Nuclear Option.
Look for the lefties to increase their attacks on him.
I fervently hope that this is not mere rhetoric and an empty threat. It's time to hold Greer and Whittemore accountable for their contempt of congress and the people.
Mr Delay you have an army of Volunteers out here to stand in the gap with you to make this happen.
God Forgive you if you turn and run at the first sign of a fight.
I sure as hell won't.
Dear Tom, Please don't threaten the people responsible for this fowl deed, follow up and do something ... .. ...
Before you complain about the speck in another's eye, better get the log out of your own.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
But to heck with impeachment, when do we get to frog-march judge Greer off to the gallows?
It's blatant abuse of judicial power and murder in the first degree.
