That was the amount of money...$300,000...that Michael spent/went through when he went to nursing school to learn how to care for Terri. This is among the listed items...what went where out of the settlement funds. Presumably he paid himself a salary and living expenses, reasonable. Don't know how long he went to school, though.
Well, yeah, I guess he would have to eat and so forth while doing that, so it's not all tuition money. Nursing programs are typically two years, but presumably the expenditures would have been reviewed at some point.
It's too bad $300,000 worth of nursing education couldn't give him a "heart" for nursing!
